    History

I'm sure anyone who frequents the ROC section of this forum is well versed in their history, but as a quick refresher these Royal Observer Corps posts were created in groups around the UK. The purpose of these bunkers was to detect blasts from nuclear weapons and to track the fallout which was then reported to a group HQ. As far as I can gather, this appears to be the only ROC post on Anglesey that can be entered, with others commonly demolished, converted or sealed.

The post was very easy to find, with the location being supplied online via the SubBrit website. Everything seems in very good condition with very slight internal flooding and vegetation overgrowing the surface structures. Ladder is intact and stable. There was a chain and lock securing the hatch but this appears to be cosmetic only (or it was originally attached and someone took bolt cutters to it). There is very little that remains of the original ROC post. There is the shell of a chair, a set of cupboards which have been trashed, and the original pump and ventilation system. Also plenty of rubbish that people have left behind.
