The Medler family are huge around this area. The elder, Lenny Medler made a living operating a large scrap metal and breakers yard from the back of his property. When he died in 1989, the yard was taken over by his wife, however it fell into disrepair, and soon nature started claiming it back.

The large "main" yard has long been cleared out, but Lenny had a habit of placing scrap wherever he could find room. A known eccentric, and classic "Norfolk man", he refused pay for a real office or outbuildings, fences and the like, he simply built them himself from scrap metal. He even refused to use banks, instead trusting his money to a makeshift safe (made from a wardrobe) in one of his outbuildings,

To this day, there's acres of scrap, including complete cars and trucks dating back to the fifties, just lying around the woodland. The first time you stumble upon this place, it really has the hick, hillbilly feel (NFN). The clanking hubcaps strung up in the trees, misspelled homemade signs, shots firing from the gun range near by all add to that yeehah feel. but a great place to explore ;)

We met a really nice bloke whilst we were there, an old scrapper who told us all about the good ol' days. Apparently in the 30's there were around 4000 cars stacked in the field, some really unusual ones too. There also apparently used to be a big hall there at one time and the drive and fields were lined with huge stacks of vehicles to stop people getting in!

Here's a few photos, we definitely need to go back as there's so much we didn't get time to see!

Bit of a mess in the buildings...

Did you see the furniture removal vans still packed with 1960's furniture in them?

No I didn't but that sounds amazing! We left at the end of the day with at least half the sight unseen, definitely need to go back soon!

There are some real hidden gems in this place but there are no words to describe just how much of it there is and what a tangled mess bits of it are! It looks like you saw bits I missed off too! I'd love to go back up here if I'm ever in that area again
