Hello all, I was taking a cruise from Windsor yesterday and we went past this Hotel...
All the ground floor windows are boarded up, but the top ones are not, it has lots of outbuildings and lovely grounds.. the below is taken from the web..

Set on a private island accessed by footbridge or boat, this upscale hotel in an elegant mansion and outbuildings is 7 miles from Windsor Castle and 10 miles from Ascot Racecourse.… More

Featuring river or garden views, the refined rooms and suites offer free Wi-Fi, TVs and desks. Some add iPod docks and private patios. There's also a wood-panelled suite with a 18th-century Wedgwood-style ceiling, a 4-poster bed and a dressing room.

There's an airy, casual restaurant with garden views, as well as a stately lounge with a fireplace and painted ceilings offering afternoon tea. Event facilities are also available.
Address: Bray on Thames, Maidenhead SL6 2EE

Thanks for the lead and I work in the area so may have a look soon.

Looking at Trip Advisor, customer reviews date up until end February 2016, so this is very recent development. I think this would have to be a boat job as only way onto the island seems to be just the one very small footbridge.

Been informed that whilst the hotel is boarded up, as of this morning peacocks are still roaming the island!

Not sure if that extra snippet of info will help.

On site security, and he lives in a white Ford Transit looking thing in the mainland car park exactly where the footbridge onto the island is. He doesn't seem to patrol, just stands outside his van. Place is freshly boarded with no signs of weakness. Very little tree cover, as the lawns are still looking like lawns, making you visible to both security and the Thames Footpath. Would be dead easy to canoe across though, the Thames hardly moves here.
