Here is some brief info on the place:thumb
Ravensworth castle is a grade II listed building (ruinous)-14th century.
It was purchased in 1607 by the Liddell family who remained at the castle until 1910.It last use was as a girls school, after that it was left to fall into disrepair before being partially demolished due to subsidence caused by mineworkings.
Most of the pics are from the cellar- didn't manage to get many of the outside cos my batteries went

A nice place to visit, the ruins are very photogenic at night, will invest in some more batteries next time :D

After much nagging from HP I've decided to post some of my shots.
Can I just say as well, this is possibly the most beautiful place I've ever been and to see it in such a state of disrepair is really sad.

    Firstly some exterior ones:

    The entrance gate
    [IMG]

    The main courtyard
    [IMG]

    Concerning brickwork

    The clock tower

And on to the main highlight, the underground section:

    Bad framing :(

It had to be posted :D
