    Hi gang,

Basically i managed to smash my old skool digital camera climbing through a window the other night, it was all good, i could still take pics, but not see them, now it just does nothing :( - had it for 15 years lol.

So it's time for an update.

i know next to nothing about photography

but i generally go exploring at night time, i'm very interested in these long exposure light shots, and i just want something that'll capture quite a lot of the image, i'm not a fan of tiny digi lenses.

    my budget is from £100-£150

obvs need to invest in a tripod too, and do they take the standard SD cards?

and is there anything else i should be considering?

    Thanks guys

Yeah as said above, Canon 350d or the Nikon D40, D60 & D70 are all your best bet IMO. You only need an 18-55mm lens to get going and from there you can build up your lenses and just upgrade your camera body.

Get a tripod and watch some Youtube vids on long exposure and aperture and you're ready to go. :thumb

I had a 350D for a bit and while it was a great camera it was somewhat fiddly to use, I expect the 400D will be a bit easier.

Only thing I'll add to the night photography suggestions is get a remote timer/shutter button, 30 secs is quite often nowhere near long enough for a decent exposure.

Oh yes. Sorry my bad. I'd got several pages up and got the wrong one.

You could probably still try a snipe if you didn't want to pay £120. Who knows!

you'll get a panasonic lumix TZ10 for less than your budget, it'll do 60 seconds exposure and give plenty good images.or if you want something with more manual control look at the lx range from lumix.

another good thing with going compact is you can get away with a much smaller tripod.
