It was only a small part of the hospital that was open this time, but they are going to be running some tours of the whole site, including the outbuildings.

Did they let you take photos, I was speaking to someone very close to the building who said they are not interested in letting people in to take photos as its already been fully documented in photos (i.e. it makes them no money), it looked like this was going to be the case on the open day, so i did not bother going.

Yes, there were plenty of people taking photographs on the day, and when I put my name down to go on the 'full' tour, I was told that I would get some great photographs. They're charging £10 per tour, so I think they'll let you do more or less what you want.

When they get in touch with me I'll post on here and if you're interested, PM me and I'll send you the details.

They let people take photos but I didn't get mine out of the bag, there were 100's there on the sat.

There was scope for slipping off tho as some member of a hilly billy chav family armed with permanent markers quickly scaled the wood keeping you off the main stairwell and vanished into the upper sections, how far he got and where he presumably scribbled his tag not sure as this happened on way out. One of our lot remarked to the guy on the door to the fact and was overheard by the said family, we walked off down the street with shouts of "grass" ringing out haha.

I went for a look too,but was disappointed that so little of it was open. The best part of what was open was the big hall you can see in the top pic on the Echo's blurb.

Hi I have been round Newsham Park Hospital when it was open Heritage week to the public it is Fabulous but the keep it to main part of the hospital. If you go on facebook & on to The Friends of Newsham Park & click on the photographs you will see what I mean. At the back of the hospital the are other building maybe a chapel a school this was not open to the public it was none as The Seaman's Orphanage. It was built in 1800s. They hold Ghost hunting nights there as well. I would just like to tell you it is in walking distance of Tuebrook police station.

Something might be happening at last - a planning application's gone in to LCC to "use part of the building as an events venue" ; not approved as yet but we'll see. [14F/0082 if you want the details]
