Courageous and I have hit Pyestock a couple of times recently, firstly taking in the usual Cell 3/4 hotspots, and then a few of the older buildings. I was disappointed with 3 in particular, finally proving to myself that the doors were just part of the filmset! Too good to be true I guess.

On a subsequent visit we ended up in Cells 1+2, and felt like we hit Pyestock gold. I think these cells are where you can really see what went on there, probably due to the fact that they are far more compact and self-contained. The accompanying control and exhaust complexes complete that vision of the whole process, although the science of what actually happened there is obviously still far far beyond most of us.

For those that haven't done so, I strongly recommend spending time in this area. Its quite magical.

Simon Cornwell's site seem to have the best info on what actually happened there - check out http://www.ngte.co.uk/doc/doc/etf4.htm

At the far end of Cell 2 is a Spray Carriage, used to spray water into the exhaust in order to cool it and reduce the noise.

And finally, a Pyestock pipes shot - just because I was really pleased with this one.
