first, what do you use to get the gental diffrent colour lights and second, how do you get it to look so good over such a long shutter speed as i find i can't make shots look as nice as the light in the train pic on the floor

Thanks guys, get some posted up!

Most of the photos there are lit externally using moonlight on a 2-4 minute exposure. The colours are from a book of light filters that cost nothing, I just stick one over the end of a torch and use that. It's just a matter of trial and error really, if you get some good lighting and the aperture/shutter speed right you'll get a good night photo, it's the same as normal daylight photography really. The top photo for example was a 3 minute exposure in fog which was lit by the full moon.

They are some mighty fine shots there!
if you take 2 pictures and stack them then thats 120secons, and so on ;). (I think there is specific stacking software, but in gimp of photoshop you just put the 2 pictures as different layers and click add, simples!)

Cheers folks, yeah the stacking software can work quite well, but it's only really useful with lighting shots, for adding light painted parts to an image and so on. For making an image lighter (simulating exposure) it doesn't work.

No editing software can create detail that wasn't captured during exposure!

Get an old film body and shoot hour long exposures :p
