This was my first explore on the west coast with some UER peeps and it was a good one.

NIKE missile bases were set up in the mid 1940s around cities in the US as anti-aircraft missile systems. Nike Ajax missiles were installed to replace anti-aircraft guns that would not be able to deal with the speed and altitude of jet aircraft. I'm not sure when this place was decommissioned but probably by the early 70s.

The day started with a march up a massive hill in the sweltering heat. I had to dump half of my drinking water of my head at the top before I recovered.

    Former missile dock

There was plenty of wildlife about leading to this weird method of climbing the stairs

    A pissed-off rattlesnake

    Bushy basketball court

The LAPD are using part of the site for training

Looks to have involved taking former squad cars and raking them with bullets

Driver and passenger didn't make it...

    Attached to the car key
