    Hi folks,

My friend has a Nikon and is struggling to get focus and detail in her shots.

    What lens would you recommend?

    She normally photographs people

    (Apologies it not Urbex related)

    Thanks

Well you haven't given nearly enough information for us to be able to help you/her with the problem. In the absence of said information I would suggest that your friend learns how to use the camera properly before splashing out on expensive glass.

I don't shoot Nikon so unfortunately im not qualified to comment, as camera settings techniques and fault finding are purely confined to specific camera manufacturers :banghead

I could suggest too make sure that AF is switched on and it's not in MF (just one common problem with numpties owning a camera ) others are being unable too read a manual or breath unaided ;)

I'd recommend the Sigma 150-600mm Sport with the Dock (so the lens can be fine tuned) :thumb

This may be better to post in a photography forum to be honest. Nonetheless it all depends on budget as well as what kind of camera she has. From my little knowledge of photography I believe 85mm is the typical portrait focal length. On a crop sensor you'd need a 50mm for this. Alternatively she could get a manual focus 135mm f2.8 Nikon lens for around £100, manual but a superb lens.

Apologies for not giving enough detail and not being born with camera expertise!

Thanks for your opinions and information though, much appreciated

    Focus and detail?

Focus is simply that, focus the camera.

Detail could be ISO settings, should be at ISO 100 / 200.
