    History>

RAF Hospital Nocton Hall was a 740-bed RAF hospital serving the predominantly RAF personnel based at the large number of RAF Stations in the area. Officially designated as No. 1 RAF Hospital Nocton Hall it opened in June 1947. It was used by forces personnel, their families and local civilians until it closed on 31 March 1983.

The hospital was situated the small village of Nocton in rural Lincolnshire and partly in the grounds of Nocton Hall. The Hall was used as the Officers' Mess. The main part of the hospital consisted of long corridors with wooden hut wards and departments branching off them. The hospital was on a slight slope so the corridors were not level.

In 1984 it was leased to the USAF as a United States Air Force wartime contingency hospital. During the Gulf War, over 1,300 US medical staff were sent to the Hall and many were billeted at RAF Scampton. Fortunately only 35 casualties had to be treated. In its later days 13 American personnel remained to keep the hospital serviceable. RAF Nocton Hall was handed back to Her Majesty's Government by the USAF on 30 September 1995 but has never been brought back into use as a hospital.

We wanted to do more military sites, although many of the lincolnshire ones have been demolished. This one is much of a derp, but still had the feel of a military site. We stayed clear of the hall, and there is some added photos of another military site in Lincoln.

Its a nice walk to the site from the church...

no, it looked like a shell - although could have gotten some nice tone from the masonry and sun, came close but decided against it (to be fair by this point we had lost track of the fences scaled).

yeh its pretty repetitive, but worth a shout, ariel shots were taken from a tower towards the back.

Very nice, you have some cracking shots there :thumb
I would say though the actual hall itself is defiantly worth a look,
It may just be ruins but they are beautiful and there is interesting features
    To be photographed.

There is also another part to the hall but is quite trashed,
Maybe go back back at some point and have another look ;)

Just a word of warning went there this Sunday and it looks like someone's living in the actual hall so just a heads up, probably some crack head.
    Stay safe

I was a patient there way back in 1960 Had an Operation, I wonder which ward I was on, it was alive with lovely little RAF nurses, and quite easy to get lost.
