Constructed around 1820 but never finished until 1858, Normanby Hall was a nursing home designed by Ignatius Bonomi (now known as "the first railway architect"). No one seems to know exactly when it closed but it is believed that the building ceased operation around the mid to late 90s.

When we arrived at the grounds we were surprised by the size of the building itself and how badly dilapidated it was. Due to most of the windows being boarded up there wasn't much natural light inside the home, so the pictures from inside of the building aren't the best quality (apologies).

Many of the doors around the building had been blocked off by various bits of furniture and debris.

Funnily enough they weren't actually ours, we just assumed some kids had left them there or something.

Growing up I'd heard of it but never went there, glad I went when I did because there was an arson attack on the place in July. Haven't been back since.

I'm surprised they haven't built a small housing estate on it already, or at least renovated it.
