Clubs like these were a huge part of the mining communities in Britain. They were a place for miners to meet friends and socialise, miners wives and children took part in clubs and had outings. Football, darts, dommies, bowls and snooker clubs played rival welfares for coverted cups and shields.

Despite the pits closing, many of these clubs are still open. Ollerton's however has closed after going bust last year.

The building is huge, much bigger than any social club I have ever been in. It was also very very dated, which made exploring the building interesting. I felt rather sad whilst taking my pictures, as this is a building that has seen so much happiness and fun. It's blackened shell is now only destined for the wrecker's ball...
