    Hi All,
This is my first post. Ive been a member on this site for only a short while but have been watching and reading with great interest for some time now. I like to travel out from my Bedfordshire home armed with only my DJI drone and my trusty iPhone. Travel light, thats what I say. Ive found various ROC sites near me and have photographed them ready to post and also found several sites thanks to the clues and info posted here. One of the sites is the once magnificent house at Overstone near to Northampton.

    REPORT
Me, my friend "Darren28" and his son Sam ventured out to Overstone Hall with all the intentions of just grabbing some aerial shots as we had already noted that recently the site had been placed inside a ring of palacade fencing. However, after some crafty exploration, we managed to penetrate the fence and found a truly amazing building. The tunnels underneath the house were way larger than expected, winding around underneath the whole of the house. The tunnels are pitch black but fairly clean and dry. A head torch is a must.
I found the old derelict house amazing. I loved the fact that although most of the floors and joists had collapsed, the very striking fireplaces once spread across the floors seemed to be clinging to the walls with all their might. (see pics).
We ventured into the main building and found a maze of self contained rooms that probably date from the early 90's. The rotten smell of mould on the walls was only beaten by the sweet aroma of empty beer cans and the lingering smell of class B "herbs".
I hope you like my first report and I'll detail a brief description of the site below.

    HISTORY
Its ten years now since a devastating fire tore through Overstone Hall destroying more than 60% of this grade II listed building. Still owned by the New Testament Church of God, this once 119 room pile was purchased in 1980 following its closure as Overstone School For Girls. The building has now been placed on English Heritages’ Buildings at risk register, it's on the market with a guide price of one million.
The 19th century stately home boasts 114 rooms in 50 acres of country parkland in Overstone, Northamptonshire. Lady Overstone commissioned the Elizabethan and Renaissance style building in 1860, but didn't live to see it finished. Unfortunately her husband Lord Overstone hated the design, built by architect William Milford Teulon, and even declared his contempt in a letter to friends.
'The new house, I regret to say, is a cause of unmitigated and disappointment and vexation,' wrote Lord Overstone. 'It is an utter failure, although very large and full of pretension - it has neither taste, comfort nor convenience. I am utterly ashamed of it.'
Lord Overstone despised it so much that he refused to live in it for the remainder of his life, leaving it to his daughter Lady Wantage on his death in 1883.

Good to see this crop up again. What is security like these days? They were onsite; patrolling with a van last time I went.

We saw no one around at the time. However I do think that some kind of construction work could be about to start. A portable site hut and toilet have been placed just outside the fence. A dumper truck has also appeared along with some building materials.
We have been twice this month and not seen a soul. Perhaps we were lucky. !

Stopped by here myself today for quick recce and it was just the same except for the dumper truck. No sign of any security except for the usual warning signs.
Not gonna leave it too long before I go and explore properly as there's no telling when the construction work may start.
    Excellent photos by the way.
