PADDINGTON GREEN - BOROUGH CONTROL CENTRE

This "secret" post war control centre is hidden in the undergrowth in the middle of the Green. It used in the Cold War as a Borough Control Centre, consisting of a wedge shaped block concealing the entrance to the stairway down to the bunker.

Anyone ever explored inside? plenty of documentation out there but cant find any pics or urbex reports anywhere online of inside. any info apreciated cheers.

Since I passed through Edgware Station today for other reasons, I popped over and had a quick look for you.

Exactly as you said, in bushes in the middle of the green. A noticeboard on the green says the bunker was constructed in 1953.

The door is locked I'm afraid, and even if you had the key, soil covers the bottom bit of the door, so a bit of digging would be required to get that door open. That soil build up makes me think the door hasn't been opened in ages.

Nearby are two ventilation shafts, hidden in the bushes. They have very small holes on the side and a tight squeeze maybe doable but would require ropework I guess to reach the bottom and may not just lead out into the bunker as I guessing all the filters and everything in that shaft blocking the way.

No sign of any emergency exit.

Finally you're right, no interior photos anywhere. Not even SubBrit have been here!

The sub brit report on their website has no mention of getting inside and states that the entrance doorway is bricked over, dated 2001.
