The stoke works was built as the Humber works. Humber originally built cycles, but moved to motor car production soon after. The works was purchased by Rootes in the 1940's, and was then taken over by Chrysler. This was followed by Talbot, and finally Peugeot.

We managed to see a portion of the site last year. This section is now demolished. The sports field, research and training depts are also gone.

I managed to find Humber's office, which was lavishly fitted with wood panels, a stone fireplace and built in clock. Many years of neglect had left the room tired, but it's former grandure shines through still.

A pity it is to be demolished. The office block is a nice building, and so much of Coventry's motor history is already gone. Seems no one has learned from the mistakes of the past...
