History: Pilkingtons established in Lancashire 1826. The Doncaster plant was established in the early 1920s and was a huge employer in the region aswell as investing at huge expense in new technologies in the manufacture of glass plates. The plant was still running up to December 1998 and is now a huge sad mothball of history to yet another great British engineering company.

A nice snowy scene to greet us , the Pilkington plant on the left of shot.
