Evening all, just wondered if anyone had any information on any underground pipework that runs from Ferrybridge Power Station and Eggborough Power Station to Gale Common, which transports the burn ash which is a by product or the combustion process. I've heard comments about it in the past but wondered if anyone had any concrete evidence.

    Cheers, Jim

The existence of the pipelines is mentioned in many official publications. Couldn't find any details on it's exact location though.

Cheers, I was just wondering which route the pipework took really and when they were installed as I can't see any references to them online, I'm probably not looking in the correct place to be honest!

I think it was built in the 60's.

Two Ash Slurry Lines run from the Power Station to Gale Common Ash Disposal site, the two line run underground but are in Tunnels near Cherry Tree Farm Whitley Bridge. The tunnel has an emergency escape hatch at one end. The pipe line is also in a short tunnel under the M62 motorway, here there are four lines , two return lines back to the river. Gale Common also can take Ash Slurry from Ferrybridge Power Station.
