I visited here with @Lavino after seeing a few reports on the place. It was definatley worth the trip as inside had not been smashed/vandalized. The outside was an amazing site as you don't see many Tudor buildings everyday and especially not in that condition. Although the place looked great and it hadn't really been smashed up it had a really bad smell on some rooms on the upper floors and it was not a smell I would like to get used to . Anyway here is a bit of history and some pics from the visit hope you enjoy :popcorn.

Pitchford Hall used to be open to the public, and grants from the council and English Heritage helped pay to restore the house and its tree house.

But public access and public money stopped in 1992, when Mr Ashmore bought the property. And he is adamant that, because of the sensitive nature of his horse breeding business, the hall and tree house will remain private.

John Yates said Mr Ashmore was perfectly entitled to keep it private, adding that: "Obviously it's a pity that there isn't any public access to it... Pitchford is a sleeping beauty of Shropshire and one day it'll wake up again."

Thanks Telf :thumb Some photos are a bit wonky since the tripod isn't straight and when we came home turns out the tripod snapped in the bag .

There's apparently a secret door in the wood paneling that leads to some tunnels ..

Oh well there goes my visit. Never mind plenty more to see. Glad they sealing it if it's gone public. Be devastating if something happened to it.

It it absolutely disgusting that the present owner is letting this fine old piece of english heritage slip away! There's really no excuse for its decline, Sod his horses! Brilliant report though, love the shot of the key
