    Why would you even consider demolishing it? It's not like there isn't square miles of grey and brownfield there.

    I wonder if we'll have any historic buildings left in the next 100yrs...

    The fire service are just like the NHS and Police, not very sentimental about the old buildings in their care. From my own experience with Baswich house in Stafford a few years ago. The Police authority interpreted English Heritage declining to list the building as a green light to demolish it, while ignoring its importance to the community. At New Cross hospital in Wolverhampton a relic of its past, in the form of the Admin block and dining hall, complete with clock tower of the Wolverhampton union workhouse was demolished to provide additional car parking.
