I know there's been so many reports on Pontins recently that it seems almost gratuitous adding one more, but I'm gonna do it anyway.

This 2,440-person holiday camp closed in 2008 "following a period of sustained operating losses" for the company Britannia Jinky Jersey Plc., a division of Britannia Hotels.

The site is in surprisingly good condition today – largely, I suppose, due to its remote location, but also probably as the local council ordered the site to be "cleaned" in 2013.

It's hard to map out the site completely because there's so much going on, but roughly it is as follows:

North: Main entrance, staff lodges (locked really tight), managers' offices, Reception, supermarket, creche
East: Basketball court, utilities rooms, premium bungalows
West: Tennis court, premium apartments (locked tight)
South: Economy apartments – almost entirely empty, almost all with the doors open
Middle: Amenities – dance hall, pub, play areas, swimming pool, go-kart track, arcade, climbing wall, snooker hall (all mostly stripped bare)

Nothing to beware of. Mostly safe, no sign of chemicals, bring a good torch for the swimming pool, wouldn't recommend climbing the climbing wool if you're more than 80kg. Other than that, a very nice, relaxing day out, especially if you're a fan of utilitarian new town architecture like me.

The grotty economy apartments – one bedroom, one bathroom, a living room and a kitchen each. Empty and rotting and still somehow more appealing than a studio flat in London.

The go-kart track. More like a no-kart track now, guys, right? I had a footrace round it with my girlfriend. I won. I imagine it would have been only slightly more entertaining with a hot engine underneath my arse.

The swimming pool is magnificent, but in the absence of enough lumens, it didn't come out as well as I'd hoped.

This creche has green, yellow and purple balls. There were red balls, but someone seems to have moved these to literally everywhere else in the site. Red balls everywhere man, it was ridiculous.

Don't forget to add to the display while you're here.

The Queen Vic. Are you feeling starstruck?

And why not finish with the entrance?

    Hope you enjoyed!

Great report, brings back memories of the Rock n Roll weekenders I spent here, especially the FOSTERS bar and burnouts by American cars and hot rods at the reception.
I may have some comparison photo's of when the site was open to post if you wish, but I understand the object is what these places look like now.
    Thanks for posting :)

Yah do it, I and many others have only had the pleasure of seeing this place derp, would be good to compare it with the days of hustling, bustling British people on low-medium incomes.

All set up to post some great photo's then found out that the Mrs has been through my album like a white tornado and thrown them all out GRRRRR. Her reasoning? They nearly all have my ex in them.
There are a few on the Hemsby RnR site so I may nick a few from there(with their credits of course)

Great report. Oh those poor, poor snooker tables I bet they're warped beyond repair now.

Not too sure what is happening on the housing front. A couple of years back I stopped to take some pics. A neighbour from the nearby houses came out and told me a little history of the land:-
The land originally belonged to the church who only leased it to the holiday camps on some kind of covenant that it was only to be used for entertainment purposes. Apparently when the talk of housing came up the church was originally against using the land but now maybe things have changed.
