After a visit to Denbigh Asylum, we visited Pool Park at Ruthin... got lost on the way due to my "Sat Nav Lady on Phone" finally losing patience telling me to "as soon as possible, make a
    u-turn..."
I was seriously expecting her to come out with "oh, f*** it... find it yourself you stupid fool..." and eventually we just asked for directions from a friendly local... who must have said "POOL PARK, what, the EMPTY DERELICT LODGE?" so many times in such a loud voice that I half expected Denbighshire Constabulary to be waiting, meeting us up there :/
After a lovely walk through a forest, we came upon a beautiful mansion next to Pool Park Farm and this turned out to be a much more enjoyable explore than Denbigh.
The staircase alone was worth it.. as was the roof... cue cigarette and picnic break and sunbathing for a half hour up there :)

History bit I could find was this, from coflein.gov.uk:
"Pool Park was rebuilt in 1826-1829 for the second Lord Bagot.
It was acquired by the North Wales Counties Mental Hospital and opened in 1937 to accommodate 87 patients for relief of overcrowding at the Denbigh hospital.
It has a main elevation of 2-storeys, plus attic, and is rendered with a slate roof.
It has a nine bay front with projecting gabled end bays. The centre three bays are also gabled with a projecting central entrance bay. The entrance has an ornate pilastered porch with coat of Arms above and an arched entrance."
Pool Park closed in 1990, and has lain empty since then.
