Finally I decided to make the trip over to RAF Alconbury and managed to get in with amazing ease, regardless of the 24 hour site security and barriers at the main entrance. The site is absolutely massive and very busy as it is now a industrial estate. Whilst this is annoying, it also makes exploring the base easy so long as you have a car as no-one will think anything of it as there's so many cars and lorries on site. If you just walk about, you'll probably gain more attention!

I had to cut the trip short and didn't see nearly enough!

Upon entering the base I headed straight around to the spy plane hangers where I found a friendly haulage bloke who was happy for me to take photos and look inside:

Alongside the spy plane hanger was the infamous Magic Mountain where spy plane photos were developed and analysed:

Surprisingly I found a tunnel throught the middle of the building, meaning entering the place is well and truely out of site. However, it was well locked up unfortunately.

In the distance amongst the hangers I saw this old hanger, turns out it took the SAS three attempts to destroy it!

The police have a training place and looks like they take pop shots at the hanger's signs

Following around the base road I saw this place, no idea what it was but it was massively well protected:

However, I did find the main door and to my delight, with a turn of the wheel, it swung open!

I went throught 3 very secure doors to enter the place, but it seemed the SAS had been training there too, knocking through the 3 foot thick concrete walls!

Weirdly, there was line of 5 airlocks, assumingly for decontamination:

I decided to move on as I didn't have much time, so headed for the bomb stores:

Unfortunately I couldn't get into the main nuke store, but, thinking about it I could've if I'd have dared to hop over the fence where the barbed wire was removed, the place is still locked up well as a fireworks store is in there:

Unfortunately I couldn't get into the control tower either as there were some people in there:

Cue another trip when I've got more time!
