    Hi all,

This is my third visit to RAF Driffield, and probably my last. Demolition has begun and the officers mess has gone, the tiles are off the roofs of the nearby private quarters. Visited with Maltonian:

The brief history for those with a short memory:

    Opened: 1918
    Expanded: 1936
3 new concrete runways built: 1943
    Bombed by 'ze Germans': 1945
Taken over by the Army 1977, (renamed 'Alamein barracks')
Runways removed: 1980 (hardcore used to make the Driffield bypass)
Taken back by the RAF (make your flaming minds up!): 1992
    Closed: 28th June 1996

Chavs move in: 29th June 1996:(

I have tried to show some different shots to those already posted, its not hard to be honest because it is such a large site:

Found this most wonderful room with tons of flakey paint and a pipe from above with natural light pouring through - nice!

    Some great light filtering through:

Lit this cabinet up with my Fenix and also my latest £10 torch from Lidl - flippin bargain!!

Don't know what this is but I like it!

The boiler house is just stunningly derelict:

Old airmans belt and an old tin cup:

Old blue door at the medical centre:

They sure do like their pubs those crazy RAF folk:

Someone has had the cycles, I had to blimmin walk round the whole site:

Loads more on my Flickr site.

Towards the end whilst photographing the vehicle maintenance bay I looked up and there was a fella in a bright hi vis jacket, and he was certainly the security guard. We sheepishly mooched over and bade him a good morning, he was sound as a pound:(

    Cheers

    Ian
