    Now then.

I needed an excuse to post a yearly report (honourary mention to Wevsky, as is traditional), so whilst this bandwagon was passing I thought I'd jump on it

RAF Fauld is principally famous for the explosion that occurred there in 1944, the cause of the Hanbury Crater which still exists to this day. Thanks to the prudent construction of massive barriers within the facility, most of it survived the explosion; the incident itself occurred in the 'new area' into which the store expanded to meet a higher demand for storage.

Visited with the Alabaster Retards over the course of a few weekends liberally spread according to when each of us could be arsed/were free/fancied a spot of trespass/hadn't drunk too much. The site is now inaccessible thanks to a power team joining the efforts of those who couldn't restrain themselves, and the landowners.

    On with some pics.

Nice, I remember reading about this and wondering if it had been extant/accessible since the explosion.
