    This is the interesting bit.

Training in maintaining machinery and military equipment which currently takes place at Bordon, in Hampshire, and Arborfield, in Berkshire, will be transferred to the new college.

Wonder what will happen to theses sites?

My brother is based at Bordon at the moment, he's unsure with what the military intend to do with the site. He did tell me that he found several underground bomb shelters around the site, but they were pretty small apparently.

    Be careful, it's still guarded.

Huge range of buildings here - the old air ops terminal would be worth a look. Old accommodation, hangars, etc. there's a fire training area (possibly an old aircraft fuselage) over the airfield as well. I was based here for four years, would love another look round.

There's a public footpath that follows the edge of the airfield...

The old aircraft fuselage in the fire training area was just a purpose built steel training rig, so nothing to get all damp and moist over. There was a collection of grounded Hercules transports at Lyneham, but these got cleared in 2011 leaving by road for Hixon in staffordshire. Another grounded aircraft from Lyneham that iirc has appeared on here is the Wessex at Little Rissington.
