Hi there all, well today we went and had a good look around the Rank Hovis mill in Hull, i know this one has been done lots of times but the place is very interesting and getting worse by the day (no thanks to the pikies).
we went round the full place floor by floor and all the buildings including all the offices and out buildings including all the roofs, note to anyone going the place is littered with needles both used and unused so be careful.
Access was very easy, just a little climb over a wall and the place is yours to roam free in. security only visit once a day and beware he has a bloody great big dog with him and will let it go, but there are plenty of places to hide and avaid it.
during our visit we as we walked round there were other people possibly pikies ( apologies to any other member who may have been in there today) but in a whole although we heard them on numerous occasions we never bumped into each other or saw sight of each other.
well worth a visit if you get the chance to, the place is stacked with history and the machines are a picture all decked in stained wood panels prob the likes of what wont be made again. in the offices there is an archive store and loads of ledgers that go back to the 1930's all leather bound with brass locks on.
The floors are a bit creaky in places but seem firm enough but be sure to have a torch and spare batteries as some floors have great holes in them. we spent a good 2 hours round there.
enjoy the pictures and get there yourself before it gets worse:popcorn
