Day two of stag asylum/explorathon. A fairly early start not helped from a late night in Derby. We headed further east towards St Johns initially. Our later than required start meant that St Johns was pretty lively with dog walkers when we arrived, coupled with locals who were just out to stop us. St John's just wasn't to be today, asylum #28 would have to wait.

We didn't wait long and headed down to Rauceby. It's no denying that this place is well past its best, in fact quite why its not been converted in full is a bit of a mystery given how long ago work started on it. Still it was a Hine and approaching admin it was so typically trademark hine - an admin resembling so many others - Hellingly and St Marys and that distinctive red brick and grey stone work. I'm sure his influences rubbed off other asylum architects as the likes of St Cadocs in Wales look to all an intent that of a design by Hine. Enough of the ramblings and on with the pictures. What left isn't much and pretty bare...

Trademark brown glazed tiles, a times it reminded me of West Parks staircases.

The only listed part of the site, the greenhouse:

Sadly as time disappeared quicker than we thought, there was not enough time to take in the recently closed annexe behind.
