It amazed me the amount of ghost towns there are in the US, you can spot them off the road esy enough, so there must be more that are hidden. Rhyolite was a gold mining town founded in 1904 and had a population of 10,000, the biggest town in Nevada, before the main mine was shut in 1908 and the people left. It had two rail lines at it's peak, but you'd never know today. I reckon this is only half UE but it was good to see onr of these places.

There are loads of mine entrances up in the hills, had to go see one but didn't go in any further than just into the rock.

with Raddogs permission, a few more of Rhyolite:

The bottle house, built of old beer bottles. It must be great building an extension - "just nipping down to the pub for some more bricks....."

The old guy often appears in TV programs on Rhyolite, and really acts the part.

    An old caboose, now marooned

As Raddog said, one of the railway stations
