Georgie and Kevsy visited here back in 2011 and Georgie had been talking about going back for a bimble, anyway roll on 4 years and we arranged to go see what the score was, We went back with Lee, Captain of inflatable dingies and wellies with two right feet, but I can only say that despite being a laugh, these lads know their local history and it is always a pleasure to catch up with them because it is an education to learn about the little bits of local knowledge that makes all the difference.

Despite getting into the culvert it became apparent that 4 years worth of silt had made the entry difficult and the indian summer had not helped with so much foliage and remaining nettles, bushes and overgrowth, but despite all of this we tried to press on regardless so here is what happened.

    some history
The River Jordan Culvert is situated in the Otterspool area of Liverpool and from Sefton Park the stream is culverted through Otterspool Park under the woodland before joining the Mersey.
There is a collapse in the middle of the tunnel meaning its now split into two sections but the watercourse eventually drops into the Mepas system.

When we arrived Georgie said that he couldnt believe just how much silt and shite had built up over 4 years since his last visit, so much so that this culvert was at walking height but now was silted up and unreachable.

Ofcourse this meant that the gated access was also silted up, and the gate that was easily lifted out was now jammed full of shite, this was under about 3 ft of crap.

Sir Georgie of georgieville in a break between filming and captain Lee at silted up inlet.

so we dun gotta dig it owt.
sporting the latest in 2nd hand Ebay thigh length Wadorz, your truly!

And inside it was pretty nice and in good order but the flow of water was so great that we were never going to get the gate lifted so we moved downstream.

Sesame, we hit the jackpot and found a way in that was on the watercourse.

and this was looking towards the outfall and Mepas

My first ever brick egg and I was well pleased as you can imagine.

but it evened out a bit further down
    [IMG]

and then we hit a collapse which didnt look so bad
    [IMG]

until we got past it and saw it from the opposite direction and we started thinking if we had told people where we were going just incase.

Despite being stoopy and spider ridden it was lovely, you can see how low this is by looking at my camera bag that is sat on the waterline.

We jumped out here because it was getting too low to navigate.

We wandered over in this direction because Georgie and Lee lifted this last time but there was a full on game of footy going on over it so we tried to find the lid alongside the lake divit but it was too built up with thicket and nettles, found a petrol tank off some poor sods motorbike though. We need to go back early doors.

    Thanks for commenting folks :)
