I actually visited this place sometime back in January. I forget when but all I remember is it was about 9 degrees outside (-13 C for you people across the pond.) Brrrrr!

The temperature sucked but the photos and the company along with me made up for that.

Only about half of this place is currently abandoned. They plan to shut the rest of the place down within the next 18 months. The buildings here are the orignal buildings built in 1888 on the west side of campus and are quite beatiful. The top levels of them are by far the best, a lot of original wood work is still left. Unfortunately the lower levels were renovated sometime in the 50s or 60s to modernize them and cover up a lot of the nice woodwork with ugly tile and drywall. It's a shame since if they had never renovated these buildings they probably would be my favorite hospital in the state.

There were many reports of patient abuse at this place and there are many pending lawsuits. The files in the basement of the old Admin building were filled with reports of these abuses, however in mid-2006 an arsonist burned down the Admin building. The rumor is that someone who worked at the hospital did it to protect the hospital and the state from these lawsuits. Rosewood has come a long way and was now known as one of the better places for patients with mental development issues in the state, however the hospital failed several audits and with federal funding about to be pulled the state will close this entire site down.

I hope to explore the rest of the buildings on campus, but with 300+ acres of prime real estate I don't doubt it will be long before a developer levels everything.

This is my second trip here, both times were a breeze, however I know more than one explorer who has had to play hide and seek with the on site police department. We went 2 days after a snow storm and along with some tire marks from the police patrolling we also found a TON of footprints left in the snow. Looks like we just missed the party. :(

    Low down dirty shame

    A spot in the hall

    Boring chair shot

    Yet another door

    Knock 'Em Down

    Blinded by the light

    My office

    Old shot, new angle

    Yet another room

    Same old chairs, different angles

    Seeing blue

    Sounding board

    Spoons. Lots of spoons.

    Tub girl

The lighter side (it's back baby!)

    My office (lolized)

Looks like we were late for the party (this was 2 days after it has snowed.)
