    From here...

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-34780654

"There should not be any plutonium (Pu) or americium sources at Devonport unless, that is, there has been some historic spillage at Bull Point and/or the old Saltash nuclear warhead stores, both of which have been out of commission for years."

Can't find any info on it at all. Any ideas?

Although no longer an armament depot, bull point is (I believe) still a live military site. It's basically linked to the top end of devonport dockyard and when I was last down there a few years ago there were red road signs for bull point.

Saltash nuclear warhead store is a new one on me and I've lived near plymouth nearly 25 years.

The hill just north of the tamar bridge on the devon side is clearly fairly hollow and I've heard plenty of stories that was the nuke store but it's on the wrong side of the river, Saltash is cornwall side....

My broadband is so slow tonight that I'm struggling to get anywhere with google maps, but if you look at the east side of the river tamar about half a mile south of the road and rail bridges you should see an enclosed basin. From there down is bull point.

The other site I was talking about is immediately to the north of the A38, big doors in the side of the hill.

Found it thanks! Proper live site though.

Also found out that the public toilets at the Tamar Bridge have 'thick shock-proof windows' in case the base goes boom (at MOD request).

I noticed that in that article too, bad journalism - armament storage was Devon side as others have said. Still live MOD property, there's also an old fort on top of that hill which I think its one of the Palmerston forts.

Yeah, it's definitely part of a live site but they mainly seem to use the northern part of it. Those doors are looking very disused these days.
As well as the fort DrGonzo mentioned, I'm sure you noticed the two small compounds in the field above containing (I assume) vent shafts and emergency exits.....
