A West Midlands Urbex Meetup outting in Krakow, Poland.

6 of us went, me, adders0121, hulfordj and 3 others.

The evening we arrived was comical with adders0121 and hulfordj deciding to drunkenly scale the scaffold on a building next door to the kebab shop! And getting stuck up there so the police harassing some of the group for public drinking didnt spot them. Pictures of that to come im sure!

The next day, we made a long trek from the hostel towards the quarry for the film set, but on the way I decided we should stop by an old fort I had come across last time, but was well boarded up. As we made it down toward the fort it became quite clear that things had changed. 5 minutes later we were inside!

St Benedict's Fortification (Fort św. Benedykta) - built between 1853-56 was one of the first parts of the city defence built by Austrians. One of the very few surviving examples of a fortification known as 'Maximilian's Tower'. At present it is partly renovated and waiting for new use.

Watch out for more pics and externals from adders0121.

After this we carried on over to the Schindlers List film set location.

In 1992 Steven Spielberg built a replica of the Nazi Plaszow Forced Labor Camp for his movie Schindlers List. The remains of the set still lay abandoned in the Liban Quarry in the Podgorze region of Krakow, Poland.

Very prominent features in the movie, all except the villa which would have stood next to the steps at the top right of the photo.
