Myself, another member (Iron stine) and a non member explored this place a couple of weeks ago, but were shocked to find out last night that it had been totally gutted by fire last Thursday! (11-Dec-14)

I wasn't going to post a report on it at the time because I didn't think it was that impressive just being a derelict full of pigeon poo, but since the site has now been wiped off the face of the Earth, it changed my mind.

Can't find much history on the place, but it seems to have been split into units and it seems about three businesses operated from there.

There's also clear evidence that somebody was living there at some point. I hope they weren't in when the fire hit.

BBC News page about the fire: here

I don't suppose Planning Permission has recently been denied, by any chance ?

"Planning permission denied? No problem, we'll just burn it down"

Hehe. I saw it on another news site too, they interviewed the owner he said, paraphrasing: "It's terrible, I was planning on having it demolished soon, now I can't do it".

    ???

It was T. Forsell's worsted Spinners originally, before they moved into a more modern factory. It's currently being demolished.

Hey, thanks for that bit of info, it enabled me to find a couple of other explores and some background on the place. :)

Positively upper class by my standards, I can even see some intact glass!
