Right then, hopefully this'll be my first report that isn't relegated to the hidden section of the forum.

Not a lot of history on this place since it seemingly stopped operating as an incinerator a couple of years before I was born, and the rest was borrowed from wombat's report. "The incinerator opened in the 1970s, and closed possibly around 1991. The site continued to be used by the county council as a tip until 2011. The chimney was demolished at least 12 years ago."

I've been here several times when the site was in use as a tip as I only live a few villages away, but never actually knew what was inside the building. I only discovered that it was an incinerator recently and as I'm at uni now I've had to wait for an opportunity to catch the urbex tourist train. I decided I was paying it a visit today, and as nobody wanted to come along it was a solo explore. Access was pretty easy, and even better I could park less than 20 metres from the gate . I really wish I'd brought my 10-20 home instead of the 17-50, 17mm isn't really wide enough for this place, and that lens would probably have coped better with the flare. Anyway, on with the pics:

The main gate, looks pretty boring

An external after exiting the building, during a thunderstorm

    ...and I'm in

Looks like the metal fairies have been in

The room where the tip 'office' was located

    Now down to business...

    Thanks for looking,
I've got a few more pics on flickr if anyone wants to check them out.

Haha, I should have a lot more reports and explores under my belt after being a member for 1 and a half years but being at uni and not having my own car isn't an ideal combo :(

Is this place still accessable, looking to do it. There seems to be some other buildings in the fields nearby,
    do you know them?

No idea re access, when I'm not at uni I'm local, but not that local :p If you live nearby go and have a mooch around, getting into the actual site is straight-forward. Even if my entry point is sealed it won't be long until the local yobs kick one of the shutters in I'm sure.

Also I did check out the buildings you speak of on google maps too, and I came to the conclusion its a farm. Didn't bother looking in person though as I've had experiences in the past of visiting supposedly abandoned farms and being greeted by an angry farmer

40 mile trip to get there, maybe we need to have a couple of other explores just in case.
Swithland was on our list too, not far away.

    many thanks for your reply.

If you're coming that sort of distance definitely have a few places lined up so its not a wasted trip if the incinerator is sealed. Swithland is a good call, just up the road and pretty easy, or at least it was last time I was there. If you're coming from that way the vagrant cells and hospital in melton might be work a visit. Other than that I can't think of any other good explores, I'm hardly in Leicester at the minute so no time to check stuff out.... that's changing in a couple of months though :thumb If you're planning on coming end of may onwards give me a shout, I'm happy to tag along, could do with revisiting here myself.
