    The Six Arches

    Background Information
A viaduct over the River Went, called so as it contains six arches. It sits on the easterly outskirts of Ackworth, near Pontefract, West Yorkshire, and carries the Pontefract to Rotherham line. The actual construction date is unknown, but believed to be around 1880-1900.

The line sees very limited use these days and a speed limit of 30mph is in force, probably to stop the mortar falling out.

    Report
I got up here on a clear night to capture some of the setting sun, I am still quite new to the photography business so was playing with the exposure in low light conditions.
Luckily no trains came past, if in deed any at all do any more!
I hope you enjoy my first report, sorry I started off with something so simple, but we all have to start somewhere!

If anybody could shed any light as to what this is? Some sort of bridge marking.

I also spotted something quite interesting (and what looked abandoned) in the distance, so think I'll be walking a bit further past next time ;)

Also, be careful. Trains still do come past there not too rarely.
