Looks similar to a place I went to in Poland in c2000. Apart from getting hammered beyond belief in Berlin, spending 24 hours on an ex-warsaw-pact airfield and eating breakfast in an ex-nuclear control tower, this was a proper treat and one of my first explores I guess.

See you're doing it wrong. You go out as late as possible in it, then just park outside your house, whatever obstacle may be in your path. They'll not park there again.

Did a few East German bases after the wall first came down c1990, but things were fairly mint back then.

 British Military could travel in East Germany [GDR] in the 80's with the British Military Misson (BOXMIS) but we were really restricted in what we could see then, as was the Soviet Military Mission to West Germany [DDR] (SOXMIS) and the Federal Republic of Germany Armed Forces [Bundeswehr] used Soviet equipment after Reunification, but pretty much left many of the bases to rot. :tumbleweed

Have seen some pretty amazing restoration of both NATO & Soviet Armour from rusting hulks! and you would be amazed at how well they look and work - Dedication to hard work, and a good mechanic pays off.

Google Earth link if you intend to visit LoL

    http://goo.gl/maps/M0K5

    From elsewhere:

Last June [2010] it was reported that Ukraine is selling 200 T-72s to Ethiopia (T-72B1 version). There was unofficial information of additional 200 being upgraded to T-72UMG for that country.

T-72B1 are repaired at Lviv Tank Repair Plant
T-72UMG are upgraded at Kyiv Repair Plant

All of the T-72s due to be repaired or upgraded for Ethiopia are coming from such "tank fields" located at Kharkiv, Kyiv, Lviv plants. Tanks repaired and then sold to South Sudan also came from the same "fields".

Also see on Google Earth image of the Kharkiv Tank Repair Plant. As you can see, we can call it "abandoned" only the part where tanks are stored. Other buildings are more or less in maintained condition (at least the roofs are OK )
