This history was taken from a nearby monument:

"In 1939, Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp prisoners built a modern bakery to the north of Lehnitz Lock for the SS holding company, the “Deutsche Ausrüstungswerke". Owing to war-related bottlenecks in procuring materials, production did not start until March 1941. About six months later, the bakery was taken over by the Deutsche Lebensmittel GmbH, which supplied not only Sachsenhausen concentration camp, but also other SS units and departments in Oranienburg, Berlin and the surroundings.

About eighty prisoners baked and distributed the bread. Among them were Poles, Latvians, Germans, Dutch, and others. Each day they had to march from the main camp to the bakery. In 1943, they were moved to Klinkerwerk External Camp. After shift-work was introduced, working hours were extended and two field ovens installed, raising production from 30,000 loaves a day in 1944 (from originally 10,000) to approximately 40,000. The Mittelbau-Dora, Groß Rosen and Ravensbrück concentration camps were now supplied, too.

After liberation in 1945, Red Army soldiers ran the SS bakery for a time, enabling them to supply the sick and weak survivors at Sachsenhausen camp. In 1946, the bakery was taken over by Niederbarnim District
consumers’ co-operative. Following extensions and conversion work, the bakery was run as the Konsum-Großbäckerei Oranienburg from 1948 to 1991.

On 4 September 1994, a fire destroyed parts of the interior of the disused bakery, which is now a listed building."

Getting in was fairly easy, through a small hole in a mesh fence... but I later found out there was an even easier way to get in through the front fence, which is folded flat in the middle!

I first went into the former garage, which had fire damage:

A previous visitor had stacked up several boxes to make entry easy through a window into the main building:

There was a lift (elevator) with lovely retro doors, which cast great shadows:
