6th & last on my SSI redundant sites list,
1st being South Bank Coke Ovens & 2nd being Lackenby Steel Works.
Theres nothing much to say as its all being covered on my earlier threads,
except dedication and perseverance payed off.
Its sad for me to witness such a vast & once important site being left to rack & ruin,
knowing that it will never be operating again & all the staff which lost their jobs.
Each time I visited here there was a gradual deteriation,
increased stripping and piles of debris or scrap lying about.
The coke ovens & blast furnace are collapsing, while the bricks are crumbling
& half of the electricitys off.
I wasnt 100% sure, but think there was one maybe 2 staff about while I was in there.

thanks too @AndyK & @SpiderMonkey for bringing this to my attention.

A self sufficient power station, which supplies electricity for the SSI site.
Using a combination of coke ovens & blast furnace gas, both by products of steelmaking.
consists of a boiler house, turbine hall (6 turbines)
    & several workshops.

view via the 1 mile long conveyor
    (notice all the secca vehicles)

There once was a bloke from Sunderland
    Who loved the Industrial Wasteland
His critics thought his reports were shite!
Because he did them in the Daylight!
If only they acknowledged the extra risks
Dodging Secca whilst visible on the Tips

He"d get more likes .........sorry love :D

Considering the events that happened before your .....er daytime solo mooch, well done mate :Not Worthy

How the fuck you managed it the way things were God only knows  You should have bought a lottery Ticket ;) but credit where it"s due:thumb

We know how active Secca was cos they were trying to intimidate the 3 Mutineers all afternoon & that high alert continued into the early hours of the next morning, so well done getting the shots you did.

The control room, was it not a bit noisy when you were in there? The noise was doing my head in.

Did you cover anymore than the control room whilst you were in that block, @stranton? We did the control room and quit whilst we were ahead. Remaining on the first floor map was just the locker room, a conference room and another large room planned to be used as a new control room.

we went along the 2 corridors via the canteen,
theres an identical floor above & rooms below judging by the window designs, both sealed via staircase.
