    The Explore

Visited this one on my own one saturday morning, been meaning to do this place for a while, although any and all evidence of the previous occupiers has been completely stripped during the dismantling stage from this place resulting in limited photo opportunities it still proved a very enjoyable explore with its massive corridors and on site security XD

    A Brief History

The Hornchurch facility was opened in 1938 as an old people’s home, called Suttons Institution, but soon played a key role in the Battle of Britain – housing RAF airmen during the Second World War.
In 1948 the Sutton’s Lane building was renamed St George’s and turned into a hospital.
The future of the site has been a live issue since at least 2005, when a consultation was launched on whether to refurbish, redevelop or close the hospital. The hospital finally closed in 2012 after the discovery of Legionella bacteria.

Tower and morgue? Best bits apart from the hall and corridor. Still. As you say very stripped and bare but is nice when the sun sets and you get sun beams.
Shame all the other hospitals went in London so quick. Nice report and pics. :)
