finally got to this site, after a scout and a pretty empty (unless you love pigeons) trip to the tram house, got to Stanley tools...

still a decent explore although it has degraded since previous reports, beware of potential airsoft battles ;-)

some good graffiti (whats left), will post in another thread - and decent roof access overlooking Sheffield...

    History>

Originaly 1843, Frederick Stanley started a small shop in New Britain, Connecticut, to manufacture bolts, hinges, and other hardware from wrought iron. With superior quality, consistent innovation, and rigorous operational improvement, Stanley’s company defined excellence, and so did his products.

The Stanley Rule and Level Company was founded in 1857 by Henry Stanley in New Britain, Connecticut. In 1920, this company merged with the separate but related Stanley Works, founded by Henry Stanley's cousin Frederick Trent Stanley, and continued operating as its hand tools division.

Stanley has been in Sheffield since 1937 with the acquisition of J.A Chapmans of Sheffield In 2008, the company consolidated a number of sites into a new facility at Hellaby near Rotherham, which apparently safeguarded a number of jobs, brought manufacture of Stanley products back to the UK from Asia.

Since 2008 the site in Sheffield has been vacant but currently, part of the bottom floor is rented for storage whilst the rest of the site is used for Airsoft most weekends.

The airsoft company no longer operates there, the owner after taking a lot of money and not supporting the events has been prosecuted and jailed for motorbike theft,

"The boss of a Zombie Party business has been jailed over a motorbike theft racket.
Dan Hatton, 33, launched his zombie experience last year, recruiting pals to dress up as the undead for stag parties and business team-building exercises.
He pleaded guilty at Gloucester Crown Court to conspiring to recieve stolen bikes.
Hatton, of Tredworth, Gloucester, was sentenced to 12 months.
Two others were also jailed for the scam."

    crazy world...

Although correct about the Zombie Business, that was May last year,

A new Airsoft and Zombie Company now rent the building and have done since June. So it is very active most of the time.

good info, it was a massive scandal at the time.

Was a bit surreal, as we were not expecting it an knew nothing of it till after the visit - we couldn't see paintball marks so we thought it had been set up but not yet used which was creepy ;-)

until we saw the HQ and the airsoft and noticed the bb balls everywhere... sadly some of the great graffiti has been ripped down. I started a tread called graffiti dens that features some of the best graffiti, can't find it on here though otherwise Id post a link...

Nice report and photos! Not been in here since it got more secure/the take over. Wouldn't mind going again for photos of the newest graff within the lower floors providing you can still get to em.
