The Stevenson family's dyeing business dates back to 1825, with various local premises being used over the years. This 17-acre site, occupied for nearly a century and closing in 2006, provided jobs for nearly 1,700 people in its heyday. A number of buildings were demolished in 2009 but several still remain, although admittedly aren't in a good state! Visited with a non-member, I've seen reports from here from a few years ago but nothing since the demolition started.
