Barking Power Station – Switch Rooms.

    Explored with Jasper B

Many excellent reports have been done on these buildings, so I shall leave the history alone - My struggles will probably be more entertaining. :freak

Having had a stroll around the outside of St Clements Hospital and deciding that it was going to be like Fort Knox to get in, Jasper and myself headed off to Barking to see the power station buildings.

Again the first one (Control Room) was uneventful due to being spotted and told to leave. The second was the Switch Rooms and this would be an experience all of its own. Getting in was interesting and having a large frame, I have to say it was rather difficult to say the least. After several attempts I managed to squeeze through and into the confines of the building.

Speaking for myself and perhaps because I was cold and wet not to mention a damaged pride, I could not find much in the way of enthusiasm. I would like to inform any of you that venture there to expect the worst. Meaning, do not wear your Sunday best! L and H Polymers is bad, but this place is something else! I can only describe the place as a very large pigeon loft. The floor is over a foot thick in most places in pigeon shit and the place has a very strong smell not dissimilar to a poultry farm. Because of the wet conditions it can be slippery in places and had it have been dry in there I would recommend a breathing mask due to the respiratory problems caused by our feathered friends.

Always up for a challenge and with the exit in the back of my mind, we went for a stroll around the place. The place contains a few hidden gems and you do have to search for them, but in a way it makes you think more about what images you take. The most interesting place has now been locked up – Millhouse’s report shows the room back in Jan this year. I large shiny toughened steel padlock makes sure that no more images can be got:banghead. The other places within are not a problem.

After the best part of 3 hours it was time to think about leaving. No problem for Jasper but was for me. I won’t go into too much detail but I am still recovering and seriously thinking about going on a diet lol.

On that note I would like to say a huge thank you to Jasper for the help.:Not Worthy

I also filmed the second floor and if anyone wishes to get an idea of what it is like, then please follow this link http://youtu.be/rMvSjzI8Fmg

    I hope you like :thumb
