Well Good Evening all!!! This is my first thread on this awesome site.

A brief history to start with
    [IMG]

The County Hotel on Alderley Road closed in November 2009 and since then the site has been derelict. The building has fallen into a sorry state of decline and has been subject to a number of incidences of vandalism and theft.

The building was originally known as 'Arden House' around the 1880s and was a semi detached residential villa set amidst several other Victorian villas within their own spacious grounds, including 'Lindow Grove' now known as The Merlin and 'Merchistown' now known as 'Yesterdays' the former nightclub.

It was Harden House prep school in the 1950s and ended its days by joining forces with Ryleys School - which is why Ryleys (which had sold much of its own land) has its playing fields nearby. They are the old playing fields of Harden House School.

Take a look at the ties of today's Ryleys pupils, the blue in there is inherited from the blue and silver which formed the uniform of Harden House. I can't claim these as my own memories - my husband and his brother were Harden House boys.

I have had my eyes on this place ever since it shut way back in 2009, ive always liked the place since i used to go to the wacky warehouse there in my youth :thumb Anyhow me and a good friend of mine decided to take a look round the place one night... The place was pretty tightly shut...

It seemed that the building had been secured inside and out, there seemed to be access via the roof, but as it was dark, and was extremely tired from another venture we called it a night and decided to give it a go another night...

A week or so later we decided to take another look...

and heres where the pictures do the talking ( sorry about the quality )

The OP has not been seen online since June last year, i suspect there is little chance of the photos re-appearing.

Aww ok! Yes, thanks have already seen yours. Wanted to see more! My family used to own the place in the 60's & 70's. My grandad and uncle did it up from being an old boys school. It was called The Cherries back when uncle Frank Bailey ran it. One of the most popular hotels around. My mum and dad got married there. It was beautiful both inside and the grounds around it (from the
pics I've seen). Such a shame. I'd love to go and see it! Was half minded to go and try to have a mooch, but if it's that well sealed now I prob don't stand a chance!

It would probably make you quite sad to see the state of it now I imagine, so much water getting in some of the top floor ceilings have collapsed and the amount of damp in there has meant mushrooms are literally growing from the walls and floors.. The wacky warehouse part has some fairly bad fire damage as well sadly
