The Municipal Annexe - Education Arm

These photos were taken in the education arm of the Annexe on Sir Thomas Street rather than the main building which faced onto Dale Street. I'm struggling to find specific info on it a trip to the council records office will clear that up.

The Municipal Annexe, a listed building built in the late 19th Century. The stone facade five-storey building was originally constructed as the Conservative Club used for hundreds of committee and sub-committee meetings over the years. During the Militant era of the 1980s it was the scene for a number of fiery meetings involving Derek Hatton and his Labour colleagues.

It was taken over in latter years by Liverpool City Council as an extension to their municipal offices but the switch to a cabinet style of local government has finally closed the chapter on the city council's main committee venue.

Apologies for not getting a shot of the face of the building. Stupid really.
