I'm planning to move in here soon. I've never had so much fun anywhere above ground...

This was my second visit and most eventful one yet. We made two separate trips, during the first we saw most of the touristy sites - and it was good to see them all again. On the second, we planned to see a few of the more less-visited rooms...

Over 20 hours in and after emerging from a tight crawl somewhere north in the network... we're greeted by the sound of Nirvana. Soon, after traipsing our way towards it, we discover one of the cataphiles enjoying a quiet drink by himself, surrounded by candles in a room he's been helping to build. He later tells us about an impressive place he found recently and which I learn later was one of the more elusive mineralogy offices. Despite it being after midnight, we're still buzzing with energy and when he offers to show us where it is, we're more than eager to follow him...

Just after departing the room however, we spot a glow at the end of the tunnel to our left. Cataflics? Our friend thinks so and bolts down the other way, leading us down a blur of tunnels, turning left, then right, than right again and soon we're heading down the way we came, but on an adjacent route and before we know it, we run straight into a group of cataphiles - obviously the guys we just ran from - and they eye us with barely-concealed disdain... oops.

We didn't find the room, but I'm pretty sure we came close. The area is pretty labyrinthine and fairly challenging to get through. Hopefully next time though...

A good few hours after this and we're looking for an exit. Unfortunately for us, the method we choose manages to attract unwanted attention. After five minutes of attempting to get out, we find ourselves face to face with Les Flics... a whole police van-full of them.... god knows how they managed to get there so fast.

After 5-10 minutes of explaining though, it seems all is ok. They're even curious and stop to look at our photos, commenting and cracking occasional jokes. While this is all happening, someone drives by and shouts "arrest those cataphiles" and everyone laughs. They let us go shortly after... pretty surreal...

    On with the photos!
