Before i start, i'd like to apologise for the insane amount of pictures. I had over a thousand, and tried selecting only those i found worth showing, which still turned out to be a little too much, i think.. :tumbleweed Anyway, some info.

The full name of the hospital is 'The United Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Hospital and The Hospital for Women Soho', and was named after Elizabeth Garrett Anderson in 1918, a year after she died. There is quite a bit of information on her, and for those of you who are interested i suggest you read this Wikipedia article.

The hospital was closed in 1989, unfortunately i have not been able to find out why. The state of the hospital is terrible. It is completely stripped down, powersockets, toilets, sinks, pretty much everything has been removed. There are huge cracks at some places in the building where you can see through the floor.. quite dangerous.

The explore: When i got there i had no idea there would be security on site, and sneaking in in broad daylight with people passing by did not seem like a very clever idea.. On the fence there were signs saying something similar to 'No access without an appointment.', so i figured i would get my guts together, ring the bell, and tell the security guard i was from the University of ************ for a photography project and that i was there for my '12 o'clock appointment'. Unreal as it may sound, the on-site guard let me in and took me to their coffee room, gave me a 'Visitors pass', and even offered me a cup of coffee! Being polite as i am, i accepted his offer and went on my way [they didnt even check the appoinment list!] after having enjoyed a nice and warm cup of coffee. :D

Of course they found out i did, in fact, not have an appointment at all, and asked me to leave the site eventually.I staged a little act of confusion and offered them to leave behind the, fake, contact details of my University.

All in all i had quite a nice explore. If you ever encounter a situation like mine, and you dont want to risk getting caught, bend the truth a little, and you might just find yourself a way in!

However, remember, kids, lying is NOT cool. :thumb
