Report - Eversfield Chest & Throat Hospital, Sussex - 2017

Put this up in leads years ago under Queen Charlotte's, after a lot of effort we managed to get both buildings done, persistence paid off in the end.

Unfortunately quite stripped but still some nice parts here and there, especially the one way glass and observation room, in later years it was used for child mental health.

Facebook groups have latched onto the place now and these goons are trying to charge people to explore here, you couldn't make this shit up.

In 1891 the Eversfield Hospital and Home for Consumption and Diseases of the Chest and Throat was opened on land at West Hill Road given by the Eversfield Estate with Doctor Gambier in charge.

This was a private hospital attracting wealthy patients and was absorbed into the NHS in 1948.

Dr Gambier (originally of Huguenot extraction) founded the EH after first opening the Hastings and St Leonards Throat and Ear Dispensary in Trinity Street in 1882. In 1884 it moved to Friedenfels Home, in Upper Maze Hill, and was opened for in-patients including those suffering from chest diseases.

Finally Dr Gambier founded and moved his expertise over to the EH, which was a fully-operational hospital with a complement of trained medical staff and nothing like its earlier incarnations, as described.

Ive been many times over quite a number of years, but only been in the buildings themselves twice, it's always hit & miss with the security but if they are there id suggest getting friendly with his dog.

Tap the security guy up, he's sound and will open the place up, I found this out on one of my last visits, he has a genuine interest in the place as well and will chat away about it's history.

Visited this today and there’s fucking workmen on site. I’m in Hastings one day and this happened on both my planned explores. Bloody typical.

Highly doubtful i went a few months back and a coloured dude came out telling me to fuck off and that no one should have been aloud in and that the person who was there is no longer there they've seen the posts on Facebook and are pissed

UPDATE: Feburary 12th
Ok so I went to the site and had a look around. There were cars and two caravans in the center parking bit with a permanent trailer too. However it seemed that there was no one there because I stood outside for hours and nothing happened. I called the security company on one of the signs (called themselves first responce group. Deliberate misspelling) and I got put through to a nice sounding chap who said that they don't secure the building anymore. Said that it was either passed to someone else or the owner stopped paying them or something. Unfortunately they had no idea who owned it. I stood outside a bit with gating so I should have been easily seen and he said that "nothing came up on [his] screen as an alert" . Looked around and the Gambler House was still the best entry point and the wooden surround had changed so that part of the wooden wall had been cut off. This means that if you used the entry by jumping up onto the mini roof and then down and somehow security saw or detected you, they would have to go through the building first. The wooden wall is in really poor shape as well, indicating that I don't think anyone has been there for some time and I think the cars parked in the center parking space are purely there for deterring people and storage.
Other than the decay of the wooden wall and a few more smashed windows, nothing has really changed since I was last there really breifly in 2016.
Like an idiot, I forgot I had a SMART PHONE and forgot to take pictures. :-(((((((((
