Not only is this station the last of the original LCPD closures it's really the one i've been waiting for all along! (not that i knew it) It feels so good to have a plant like this that is both relatively local, 'easy' to explore and just damn good!
Visited once with Clebby only a matter of days after closure and we were pleasantly surprised to manage three hours or so inside before we were interrupted by an engineer close by. I made a return, and managed to tick off one of the most unique parts of the site. Exploring the four epic red cooling towers that nestle so nicely into the landscape really made for a much better day out than i was prepared for!
Cooling Towers - The bank of 4 cooling towers here are particularly special as they were coloured with a special red pigment so that they blend in with the landscape. Plenty of photos got taken here and its hard to whittle down so my apologies!
Ash and Dust Plant - Located on the fringes of the station i managed to sneak a quick look at these buildings during the day. The ash plant switch room sports original English Electric switchgear in mint condition.
Coal Supply - The station was latterly converted to biofuel which means the coal supply system had some modifications. Couple this fact with a pair of large ball cameras at each end and we didn't get too many photos from this part.
