Another collection of minor local stuff collected over the years.

Former Gaumont Cinema (2019) Gaumont Birkenhead in Birkenhead, GB - Cinema Treasures
Now a furniture place, the internal decor seems mostly untouched with some nice light fittings (but no seats etc. of course).
I headed up to the top to see if there was anything left, which there wasn’t, just some empty rooms.

This one is actually in ‘Beercho’, how Birkenhead is pronounced in Scouse.
View back to civilisation from the roof.

Former Mere Lane Picture House (2019) Mere Lane Picture House in Liverpool, GB - Cinema Treasures.
The building is an ugly lump just down from the Everton Library that opens and closes fairly regularly.
The only thing to see here are a couple of projectors, which have moved around a bit over the years.
For more and better pictures see the @MotionlessMike report Report - - Regal Cinema & Mere Lane Picture House, Liverpool – June 2022 | Theatres and Cinemas.

67-69 Bankhall Street (2023)
A stretch of interesting-looking frontage on Bankhall Street, just up the road from the canal warehouse Report - - Bankhall Street Canal Warehouse (Liverpool, May, 2019) | Industrial Sites.
Nothing in here but I quite liked the authentically grotty basement, which is more extensive than the narrow wedge-shaped building above might suggest.
The Canada Dock tunnel Report - - Canada Dock Tunnel (Liverpool, June, 2019) | Underground Sites runs directly under the basement.

What was this place? Maps show a sawmill (1890) and then The Globe Works (1924, wire and cable).
The warehouse bit behind now seems to be an industrial unit, in use by the sound of it.
One clue were these initials in the floor of the foyer.

An aerial photo (1936) indeed shows it as British Ropes Ltd who had a branch in Liverpool until the mid 1940s.
The frontage is similar but different so must have been redone at some stage.

Pity there wasn't some of their rope sample cases in the basement, they are magnificent things!

Great photos as ever.

Like all 3. But the cinema with its signs and picture house with the old projectors are really cool.
